Garlic planting is one of my favorite fall activities. And Nibs is one of my favorite pups. Fingers crossed we got the formula right and we’ll have a field of healthy baby garlics in the spring! 💪🏼
With a low of 16* tonight, we’re letting the big tomato tunnel go, triple covering the baby salad in the field (which let’s be honest is a Hail Mary hope of ever harvesting) and turning on the heater in the pump house tonight. We’ll have green tomatoes for frying at market this week, along with some cayenne peppers for keeping you warm. Or at least your mouth on fire. In the meantime, we’re talking about feelings, getting dirty, next year scheming, and building walls (literally, not emotionally) for tomato storage next year, and I’m loving every minute. #crewforlife
You know those couple Instagram accounts who are just a little too prolifically complimentary of their partners... like maybe they’re compensating for something... the ones that are so sweet and sappy and like “😭 THIS PERSON IS MY EVERYTHING they’re perfection and I’m so blessed to have found my one and only and we’ll be in love for ever no matter what”? Don’t get me wrong, I love love. Annnnd those accounts make me want to vomit. HOWEVER. This flail mower implement right here? IT IS MY EVERYTHING. It is everything I could have ever dreamed of, it is perfection in metal and gears, it makes my heart sing. It is turning tomato vines into mulch for the winter, into nutrients for the soil, organic matter for the babies next year. Like I said, I love love. And I love this piece of equipment. Sorry not sorry. . Disclaimer #1: I came home late and got to finish mowing, which happened to be the most satisfying of the field scraps. @dasia_simone_ wrestled with the squash and everything else and is a beast and I got the ice cream on this toad stool sandwich.
